Review of Dominus Est
Dominus Est written by Bishop Athanasius Schneider is a moving work that is a must read. This piece is a rather quick read, but every page is packed with information. Schneider's love of the Eucharist comes through so clearly and inspires that same love in the heart of the reader. The bishop begins the book speaking from his own experience and that of his mother and other family members of going to great lengths in order to receive Christ in the Eucharist while living under atheistic soviet rule. He continues in the next few chapters to speak of the Church fathers and pulls in the faith of Eastern Catholics. He ends the book by focusing on "the example of the Protestants" in this section it is almost a what not to do type of attitude. The vigor and passion with which he writes is something to be admired. His entire book is based off of historical evidence and the examples of the Latin rite and Eastern rites. This book will well up a great love of our Eucharistic Lord in the reader and for that reason alone, is well worth the quick read.
